Rollo van Wijk (Amsterdam, 2000) discovered his passion for creating images with a pencil - starting on the wallpaper at home and later in a sketchbook. After one year at the Rietveld Academy, he moved to The European Film College in Denmark, where his love for film truly began to flourish. Drawn to light, imagery, and composition - and how these elements can support a story - cinematography became a natural choice for him.
At the Netherlands Film Academy, Rollo discovered his love for improvisation, both in acting and camera work. He is a cinematographer who likes to work from feeling and intuition. He enjoys collaborating on a wide range of projects, as he believes it’s important to be inspired by different artistic disciplines. For example, outside of school he created the wildcard-winning film Of ik langs Lyon kwam (2023) with now-graduated fine arts student Tessa Kortmulder, experimental music videos with Jim Brink, and fashion films with  for designers such as Iris van Herpen. Commercially Rollo has worked for brands like Huawei, Cartier, Rolls Royce and more.
Rollo has found his rhythm and is eager to continue working on fiction, documentary, and commercial projects. He enjoys meeting new creators - and takes his coffee black.
