A month before production, I first met Joe, the director, for a coffee. A week later, we went for a drink in Amsterdam, and before we knew it, we were in England, just the two of us with a camera and a plan. Very early in our relationship I got to support him on a deeply personal journey.  The intimacy that comes with this type of work is a big part of why I do it. I enjoy how that connection with people (and places) is reflected in my camerawork.
In 'De dode junk in mij', director Joe Hammond (28) explores how the absence of his father continues to shape his life. His father died seven years ago as a result of addiction. Now, Joe breaks the silence within his family and travels to England in search of answers. How do you allow your past to become part of your story without letting it define your future?
